Building your email list is an essential step when it comes to blogging. Without an audience, the blogging world would be a very lonely place. Good thing it’s not and you can very easily build a band of loyal readers.

But how can you get the people who stumble across your blog to stay long enough to type their email in and subscribe to your content?

Giving you the freedom to contact them whenever you’d want? It can be a very personal decision to type in your email somewhere, so what will this person gain by choosing to opt in to your subscriber list?

Here's 3 ways to convert readers into subscribers

1. Offer a Freebie

Let’s be honest, people are only going to opt into your email list if they are gaining something out of it. Think of it as a trade off. You get this and I get that.

Offering a freebie is a great way to convert a reader into a subscriber because they are getting something they want emailed directly to them.

What kind of freebies can you offer? Anything that you are good at and that is easy for you to make or give.

Some ideas to offer would be:

  • Templates
  • Guides
  • Tips
  • Courses
  • Planners

Once your reader has seen what you have to offer/teach them, they will be more likely to buy something you eventually offer to sell them. Because now you have built a trusting relationship and helped them in some way.

2. Connect With Your Audience

Communication, communication, communication. After all we are in the networking business.

Talking with readers and creating a relationship with them will be an amazing way to up your email list and have loyal subscribers. Be open to answer questions, respond to comments and emails.

You should reach out as well. At the end of your blog posts ask a question and offer the opportunity to open the line of communication with your readers.

Not only should you connect with your audience but you should learn to connect with other bloggers.

There’s a lot to learn from bloggers who have been blogging longer or just from someone with a different perspective.

Join Facebook groups or write an email to a blogger you admire and want to connect with. Building relationships with your audience will be the core of your business.

Survey your audience.

Ask your audience what they want to see from you. Ask them what their biggest struggles are. This will give you a transparent way of knowing exactly what you need to be creating content on.

3. Social Media Traffic

You should be a self-promoting social media queen with no shame in your game.

Self-promotion is absolutely the best way to bring traffic to your blog. You will only draw attention spark interest in people to go to your blog.

Not a day should go by without some form of promoting your latest/best blog post. My main source of traffic comes from Pintrest.

Give it time. It will seem slow in the beginning and that’s normal. Every blogger out there started with zero subscribers. Think about that. You will get there!

Don’t get discouraged, this step is simply part of the process to creating a profitable blog.

In short:

-Offer a freebie

-Connect with your audience

-Social Media Traffic
