Is the Frida Mom Hospital Bag Kit truly worth buying? Let’s find out!

When I first heard about the Frida Mom Hospital kit my first thought was, WOW! I mean finally an easy way to get all of your necessary hospital/ postpartum items.

I mean think about it, most first time Moms don’t even have a clue what you need after giving birth.

Because I know I didn’t! I didn’t really even mentally prepare for what my body would be going through after labor non the less, what items I would need to help heal myself.

Luckily the hospital comes in clutch with the postpartum care items and the nurses are good with answering nay questions you do have.

I always tell expecting moms to take all of the hospital postpartum supplies home with you -ask for extras as well!

The only problem with this is that hospital supplies is kind of off brands and not usually the greatest quality which is why I’ve always opted to purchase my own postpartum essentials separately. for when I am at home.

So could this hospital kit be a game changer? Is it worth the $99? Let’s talk about it!

What Comes in The Frida Mom Hospital Kit?

Here’s everything included in the kit:

  • Delivery & Nursing Gown
  • Labor and Delivery Socks
  • Upside Down Peri Bottle
  • 4 pairs of Disposable Postpartum Underwear
  • 4 Instant Ice Maxi Pads
  • Perineal Healing Foam
  • 1 pack (24ct) Perineal Cooling Witch Hazel Pad Liners
  • Toilet Caddy Carry Case
That’s a pretty decent amount of supplies for $99. Here’s how I believe it should be broken up.

  • Delivery & Nursing Gown + Labor and Delivery Socks >> Hospital
  • Everything else >> Postpartum

Why? Because I would never recommend anyone to bring postpartum supplies to the hospital with them in their hospital bag.

Frida Mom Delivery Gown And Socks

I’ve always loved the idea of bringing your own hospital gown with you into labor and delivery mainly for aesthetic purposes because hospital gowns can be pretty unsightly especially on such an important day of meeting your sweet baby with picture involved. But also because hospital gowns are paper thin and not super comfortable.

This gown defiantly covers both of those issues with a clean all grey look and the material is made out of a super stretchy jersey material and looks extremely soft.

It’s also great that it’s created just like a regular hospital gown with all the necessary buttons and ties for easy breastfeeding and opening for if you’re getting an epidural. Solo this delivery gown costs $29.99 which to be fair is a decent price compared to other hospital gowns you can purchase.

I actually really like that is kit comes with hospital socks. At the hospital you’re usually required to wear some form of grippy socks because when you get an epidural you because a “fall risk” it’s all just for safety reasons.

I do think these socks are cuter than the highlighter yellow hospital socks that are given to your when you’re in labor.

Upside Down Peri Bottle

After giving birth vaginally, everything is very sore and swollen down there you might have stitches and peeing can burn if you have any micro tears, which is why in the hospital you’re given a peri bottle.

It’s basically just a squeezable bottle filled with water to spray on to your lady part to dilute any burning sensations when you pee and to clean up because you won’t be doing any wiping for a while.

I’ve never used an upside down peri bottle but I think it’s GENIUS! The retail price for this perinatal bottle by itself is $15.99.

It would be so much easier to use an upside down peri bottle than the OG version because when you’re sitting on the toilet, the shape and size make it the perfect situation for spraying water down there. It just makes more sense than sticking an upright bottle in between your legs and trying to squeeze it.

Disposable Underwear

Just like everything else in this kit you will be supplied with disposable underwear at the hospital and honestly? I’d really only wear disposable underwear in the hospital…

Though, it is a personal preference. Some women love the underwear because of how comfortable they are (it’s true-they are comfortable!) and want to wear only those for the first few weeks of postpartum.

Plus there are benefits to disposable underwear after giving birth like:

  • comfort
  • doesn’t matter if you leak
  • super stretchy

The best and probably main reason you’d want to even wear disposable underwear after giving birth is because if you do leak off your pad those things can go right into the trash and you don’t need to worry about messing up any of your actual underwear.

Although, I defiantly think that you should take full advantage of disposable underwear in the hospital after giving birth I don’t think it’s necessary to buy your own. An 8ct of these undies retail for $15.99.

Perineal Cooling Foam

After pushing you’re bound to have either tears, stitches or hemorrhoids or a combo of all of those. Yeah not so fun…BUT things like this will be your BEST FRIEND during postpartum recovery.

The entire purpose of this perineal foam is to cool, heal heal and bring pain relief to you.

In the hospital you’ll be given a similar product but in a spray form. In fact, I’ve never heard of it in as a foam. And to be totally honest is sounds amazing.

I imagine this mousse consistency to be absolutely heavenly for postpartum. It sounds like this foam would be so comforting and cooling. It first I thought – that could be messy? I mean how do you put it on? Then I realized you could just put it all over your pad that you’ll wear.

This cooling foam retails for $12.99 not bad for a foam but a little more pricey than the traditional sprays.

Cooling Pad Liners

When I first read about Frida mom cooling pad liners I was kind of at a loss for words. If you’ve ever been through the process of healing after giving birth theres this sort of process you go through with the pad.

You basically make a DIY medicated pad by putting presoaked witch hazel pads onto your pad. The problem is that most witch hazel pads are about the size of  a silver dollar and you need to use about 5 of them lined up to fill the length of your pad. This liner is the first full length presoaked liner I’ve ever seen! 🤯

These cooling liners retail for $12.99 for a 24ct compared to the other brand which are half the price for a 100ct, I would say these seem to be on the expensive side.

Is The Frida Mom Hospital Kit Worth It?

After evaluating each item that comes in your hospital kit I am over-all impressed by everything that comes in this kit.

However, besides the labor and delivery gown and socks, I truly don’t think you’d ever need to pack this kit in your hospital bag.

You most likely won’t use any of these items while in the hospital because you’ll be given all of these supplies. Which kind of makes it not so much a hospital essential kit as I believe it should be marketed for at home postpartum healing.

If you want to be boujee I think this is perfect! Especially for first time Moms who really don’t know what they need for postpartum healing. Which also makes it the perfect gift to give at a baby shower or add to your baby registry.

In the end I think this kit is great for the price and for the supplies and if I end up having another baby I would love to give this kit a try!
