We’re building a deck! Here’s all the progress of our backyard deck project.
We are finally building our deck!!
Since buying our first home we have always planned on building a deck in our backyard. We just hit 1 year in our house back in June and those plans are becoming a reality!
Our deck is really coming along we can stand on it and it’s huge. We don’t have the sides up yet and we have some pretty big plans for how we want it to look.
I’ve been looking all over the place for deck decor and furniture. We’re still deciding what color to stain our deck. We’re leaning towards something dark for a modern look but we’re hesitant because it gets so freakin HOT in Texas and we really don’t want to add heat to the deck with dark colors. Of course we’ll add some sails for shade but I still worry that deck deck would be too hot.
We’re still trying to figure out exactly what to do but for now here’s our deck progress and

We absolutely love the way the deck came out as far. We still have work to do but for now we are so exited about the progress.
Things We Need To Do:
- Put up sail shades
- Stain + seal the deck
- Add skirting to the sides of the deck
- Put in a railing
- Add a built in bench
- Build a privacy wall
- Add another step

If you can’t tell, I really love the dark deck floors!🤪 I think they are moody and modern. Plus I really can’t wait to have a movie night like this on the deck, it’s a dream.
