When starting a blog the goal is to eventually make money from it and live the ideal digital nomad life of being able to work from anywhere. Although blogging brings amazing opportunities and the possibility of  creating a new source of income it is something that takes time and a lot of work.

I’m going to share with you how I made my first cha-ching from blogging.

I started this blog in late August of 2019 and girl, I have a learned a lot since then. I wanted to start a real blog for years but never took the steps to actually make it happen.

It was always that I dreamed about but didn’t know what to do or how to make it happen. I just really didn’t know where to start, the thought of putting money, time or effort into blogging when you are just starting out can be scary. Especially the money part…

Little did I know it only cost $3 per month to have my own website on the #1 web host out there. Bluehost gives new bloggers the ability to not be so intimidated to start their own business. If starting a blog is something you dream about I highly recommend bluehost.

If I’d have known just simple it was to start I wouldn’t have waited so long!

When I  first got into blogging I knew nothing about the how to create a full on website none the less how to market that website and make money from it. I did not have the slightest clue of how people made money blogging. I just knew thousands and thousands of people were making money from their computers and I wanted to be one of those people.

Getting the blog set up was just the beginning. In fact I’d say the first 30 days was solely dedicated to putting the website together mixed with a lot of high and low moments. I’d figure something out and become so excited and motivated…then go straight into another problem and feel lost and defeated.

Luckily for you, I went through it, so you don’t have to. I made a step-by-step guide on how to start a blog.

Once you’ve finished creating your blog you then land in this awkward spot of…uh how do I make actual money from this thing?

The best way to make money from your blog besides selling your own products is through affiliate marketing.

To learn more about affiliate marketing click here.

Affiliate marking is when you sell other companies products and get a commission for it.There are many platforms to begin doing this with:

ShareASale

Flexoffers

AmazonAssociates

There are so many more programs, but a lot of them have guidelines that are not ideal for beginner bloggers. For example a lot of programs will require that you have a certain amount of page views per month in order for them to agree to working with you.

I started with amazon and that is where I ended up making my first commission. Amazon doesn’t t have many requirements to begin an affiliate account. Therefore, giving you the ability to make money from your blog while just starting out.

It really IS possible to make money doing this.

When I was struggling with creating my blog I remember thinking if I can just make a dollar it’ll prove to me that all this frustration is worth it. Because if I could make 1 dollar then I could make 5 or 10 or 100. The potential to make money online as a stay at home mom would prove to be an actual possibility not just some magical unicorn people talk about.

Well, it is real.

After 2 months of blogging I made money. The proof I’d been praying for. A sign from the Universe, saying don’t give up it is all worth it!

As for the amount that was made,

DRUMROLL PLEASE,

I made $3.43.

Yep you heard that right, $3.43 and I am proud of it.

Now obviously it is not a large amount of money by any means. Nor is it enough to buy my favorite Starbucks coffee.

BUT, it is money.

The purpose of sharing my story was to further encourage you on your journey of creating your business. I hope this gave you some sort of light at the end of the tunnel moment.

The truth is, blogging takes a lot of time and a lot of perseverance. Sure it is fair to say that I just got lucky this month but maybe, just maybe, I am doing something right.

If this is something you really want, do not give up. I do see the potential to make money from blogging and if I can do it, you can do it. The possibilities are endless.
