Ever dream about being a blogger and creating your dream blog? That’s great!! Because every blogger once had that SAME desire. Everyone who is a successful blogger once upon a time did not have a blog.
I think there is a misconception that is attached to the blogging community (that even I am guilty of once believing). And that is that blogging is easy. You know, “the laptop lifestyle” you sit on your computer all day doing this and that while looking really cool at Starbucks while doing it.
If you’re ready to start your blog, click here.
But I highly suggest you read this blog post first. Here’s my advice to all aspiring bloggers and newbies. Look at this as your prep & pep to blogging!
My goal is to prep you with the realties of blogging but also pep you up and be your cheerleader!

Mindset
Don’t limit your self through your thoughts. What I mean is, stop thinking you can’t. In fact remove that word (can’t) from your brain completely. Start thinking with a positive outlook. Drill it into your mind that you can have any and all of your wants and dreams. If you currently think that your dreams are too far fetched or are out of your reach, then they will be.
As soon as you can come to terms with the fact that you will be successful in your life the sooner you can start molding those dreams into realities!
It can be challenging at first, to shift your mindset. Something that really helped me change my thinking when I first started my blog was journaling. I started writing down all my goals every morning. This helped me start my blog! After my morning journaling session I get excited and have a clear vision on what my next step is and what I need to work on for the day.
It’s also incredibly important to know what your end goal is and envision it. Every day write out your goals to help you stay focused on your blog.
So put your CEO hat on and start thinking like a business woman. Because that is what you are now, as you start this blogging business.
In the words of Beyoncé:
Girls, we run this motha!
You Don't Need To Spend Money (Yet)
When you first start your blog, you’re going to be extremely tempted to have the best of the best to help your blog look and be the best, duh right?
Let me be the first to tell you, don’t spend money on stuff you don’t need.
Trust me there’s no need to be Veruca Salt, you don’t need to buy that $200 website theme or pay $50 a month on an email provider (yet). Let your blog grow before making such purchases otherwise, you’re spending a whole lot of money while having a whole lot of nothing on your blog for a whole lot of nobodies to read. Haha, I don’t want to sound mean but it’s true. Everyone starts with nothing and no audience.
Plus there is no reason to dig your self in a finical hole from the jump. You’ll end up broke and overwhelmed and are more likely to give up. So just don’t do that, please.
In fact the only thing you need to purchase is a website hosting and domain name. That’s it! Just 2 things.
Other things you’ll want to buy is courses!
This can be tricky because I do recommend that you buy courses to help you learn and improve your blogging skills, but in the very early days of kick starting your blog I don’t think is necessary quite yet. There is a ton on great information online that you can find for free!

Learning Takes Time
When I started this blog I had a newborn and they can sleep like nobody’s business! Ahh those were the days… Anyways I could easily spend 10 hours a day setting up my blog up, creating content and learning.
Be a sponge! Learning is so important when you’re first beginning because, after all, most of us start without even knowing how to write a decent blog post (trust me I know because my first blog posts were poop). But this could be a double edged sword, don’t get so caught up in retaining information that you are sitting at a stand still.
Because remember,
You’re a doer not a dreamer.
I highly suggest you get a journal purely for your blog post brainstorms. I have actually filled multiple journals with blogging ideas as well as thing I learned and wanted to reference back to. This was a major factor in how I grew my blog. It’s also a great way to get creative and start thinking out of the box.
Just like anything else in life, there will be trial and errors. You’ll grow only to get knocked down. You have to be willing to make those mistakes to learn and do better. This takes time.
What I know now versus what I knew about blogging a year ago is vastly different, why? Because I went through those mistakes and failed and retried and learned from those fails.
Your business is ever changing and constantly changing. One day you’ll make great strides and then next day you’ll get no traffic or make no money and you’ll question everything you’ve ever known. This is all part of the process.
So, as a refresher you’ll need to: do, learn, fail, learn, improve, repeat.
Keep Going, Girl
REPEAT AFTER ME: “It’s going to take time to get where I want to be.”
Thats right girl! You said it. You’re going to work hard and then work harder then you’re going to hit a wall (I know I have, a few times).
I remember getting frustrated and wanting to give up because I had worked so hard yet I felt like I had nothing to show for it. This is all part of the process. It’s not easy to create a business.
If it were then I’d be the CEO of Apple. Ya feel?
Every business owner at one point or another thought about giving up and this is when the true test comes in.
Will you keep moving or will you give up? It all depends on how bad you want this. Sounds extreme but it’s the truth.
As long as you keep working on it you’ll keep moving towards your goal.
